White-eyed Vireo

The white-eyed vireo is a striking bird with white eyes and yellow spectacles.  The eyes clearly set it apart from the yellow-throated vireo, which also has yellow spectacles.  Other differences between these two species include the throat, which is yellow in the yellow-throated vireo and white in the white-eyed vireo, and the belly/lower-breast area, which is yellow in the white-eyed vireo and white in the yellow-throated.  The white-eyed vireo peaks at Magee Marsh during the second week of May, though it can be seen as early as the last week of April.  Even during its peak this bird is not very common at Magee.
