Prairie Warbler

The prairie warbler is a very striking bird sporting bright yellow punctuated by strong black markings on the face and flank (most apparent in breeding males); the females are of course less distinct.  Unfortunately, the prairie warbler is rare at Magee Marsh.  When it is seen here, it's typically sighted around the last week of April.  All of the photos below were taken in North Carolina, where this species can be seen more easily than at Magee.
